1984 Ezgo Marathon 36 Volt-Speed Controller?

I have a 1984 Ezgo Marathon 36 volt. I just got into golf carts a few months ago, so I have a few rookie questions:

-Does this cart have a speed controller?
-If it does, where is it?
-If it doesn't, what are the less expensive upgrades I can do to it to gain a little better speed up hill? I could probably run faster than it up hill right now.
