Greetings,
I am new not only to this forum but to golf carts as well. I am an Oracle DBA, and my hobby is woodworking. I have no mechanical/engine background.
I recently inherited this cart from my father (passed away last week) who used it for running around a small town in NW Iowa. It used to run quite well. I am not able to get the cart running at this time.
Based on the Model tag I found (3B 17601 H1) I believe I have a 1971 Model Type D 3-Wheel gas powered Harley Davidson golf cart (it should be pictured).
I removed the gas tank, emptied it and put in a gallon of fresh fule/oil. I also put a brand new battery in it. When switched ON, and the gas pedal is pressed the starter (?) runs and runs. The motor will not start.
I removed the spark plug, reattached the plug wire and again tried to run it. The plug did have a spark.
As I mentioned above I do not have a lot of experience with engines (golf cart, mower, auto, )
I welcome any suggestions as to my next step(s).
Thanks for your time,
