Predator 420 in Yamaha pedal start

I have a couple of questions about how the clone setup works.

I want to utilize the pedal start. So that the cart would work just like it did before. So I assume you would need to use the stock Starter/generator.

My question. When you press the pedal does the starter/generator continue to run on its while the cart is in motion? Or does something cause it to quit turning and allow the engine to turn the generator over by way Of the belt? If the latter is the case, what tells the starter generator to stop turning over and allow the engine to turn it over?

Also, (I'm sure this questions has many variables) what kind of speed do you get with a stock cart and predator 420 motor?
