When I purchased the golf cart last month, there was oil all over inside the engine bay so I cleaned it out and tune up. My last task was to drain the gear oil and put in a fresh one.
I did this today and notice the previous owner did not completely snap the vent tubing in place so it developed a bind and an opening for the oil to spray out of and I think that where all the oil came from because when I drain it, there was only half left in it.
I pour in fresh oil and the tubing will snap back in place but the bind or bend have harden to a point where it still letting oil spray through it so I decided to pull it out again and give it a good cleaning with brake cleaner (spraying on mechanic paper towel and rubbing around the area).
Then I used silicon around the notch where it will snap into the gear housing and finish up by applying more more silicon around the seal on the outside after I snapped it in.
Here a photo but I am wondering if I am hurting anything doing this or will this seal hold? Is there a place I can order new vent tubing for it?
Thank you
Bill
