Question on tire/rim size with Jakes 6" spindle lift

Long time lurker, first time poster. I have a questions on my first cart build...

I have a 2002 Club Car 48v. I ordered the Jakes 6" spindle lift kit, and will be installing this weekend. The instructions recommend 22x11x10 wheel/tire with 3:5 offset, and states if I want to run 23x10.5x12 I'll need to order the wheelbase extension kit. I found the wheels/tires I like; 22x11x12. My question: Will I need the wheelbase extension to run a 12" rim, or will I be okay without it since it's still a 22" tire?
