Read and read and read till my eyes bled, and finally landed on a strategy for painting my plastic top. Washed with Dawn and hot water, dried overnight then red Scotch Brite both sides inside and out. Done right, it is a time conning job for sure. Washed with Dawn and hot water again and dried overnight.
Today, used duplicolor prep spray do clean and remove any remaining oil/wax if any. Then sprayed the whole piece with Duplicolor adhesion promoter and immediately laid down first coat of Krylon Fusion Satin black. Three more coats an done. I used 5 cans total of the paint. More than I thought I would need but it went on very nicely. So $15 in plastic and about $60 in paint and prep my top turned out better than expected. Now, on to the longevity test?????? I'll report back.
